Dr. Emily Olson grew up in the Greenspring Valley of Maryland, and began her horse addiction while in Pony Club and 4-H. From eventing, foxhunting, and polo, she quickly discovered her passion for the horse world. After receiving a double undergraduate degree in Dairy Science and Animal and Poultry Science from Virginia Tech University in 2006, she then joined Dr. Neist in the class of 2010 at the Virginia Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. While reluctant to move away from Hokie Football, Dr. Olson completed an internship at BW Furlong and Associates in New Jersey. Upon completion of her internship, she stayed on as an Associate, becoming the primary emergency veterinarian with a focus in Equine Dentistry. From admitting cases into BW Furlong’s full service hospital, to being BW Furlong’s solo practitioner, as well as working horse shows, Dr. Olson enjoyed doing it all! Adding one more skill to her toolbox in 2015, Dr. Olson completed the Veterinary Acupuncture Class. When not floating and pulling teeth or out on an emergency, you can find Emily running with her Australian Cattle Dogs, Salsa, Tres and Chip, or trying anyway she can to tire them out… She is excited to return to Virginia and join the Virginia Equine team!
